Hôtel Herouet in brief

This charming Hôtel particulier, a small two-storey building with a high, straight roof and an elegant turret at the corner of rue Vieille-du-Temple and rue des Francs-Bourgeois, was built in the early 16th century by Jean Herouet, Seigneur de Carrières and Trésorier de France.

Successive owners under the ancien régime were not illustrious.
By the 19th century, its first floor had been denatured by commerce. Thanks to its owner, the erudite Henri d'Allemagne, it was listed in 1908. Seriously damaged by a bomb on the night of August 26, 1944, it was restored without delicacy. The turret remains its best souvenir.
