What is the program for the Marais school tour?
Our school tours of the Marais cover the historical, architectural, literary and cinematographic aspects of the Marais.
During this educational guided tour, we'll discover:
Historical anecdotes, a jewel of medieval and Renaissance architecture, a Baroque church, a Gothic church, a secret passage to the oldest square in Paris, and many other surprises.
The tour will answer questions such as:
How did the Marais get its name? Where did Victor Hugo live in the Marais? Where is the oldest organ in Paris? Who were the Righteous of France? Why did the nobility build mansions in the Marais? What is a mezuzah?
[Note: the content of the visit is of course adapted to the age of the students.
How to register?

- the date and time of the guided tour requested
- maximum duration: 1 h 30 or 2 h
- which class(es) the pupils are in
- the number of students
And any other requirements (place of arrival, restaurant, transplanted class ...)
How long does the visit last?
We recommend a maximum visit of 1 h 30 for classes from CP to CM2.
For classes from 6ème to Terminale, we recommend 2 hrs.
For post-baccalaureate students, we suggest a 2-hour visit.
When is the tour?
This tour is available all year round. You choose the date when you register.
What is the maximum number of students per tour group?
The maximum number of students per tour group is 25. For larger groups, we will provide a second guide, or even more guides.
It's possible to bring several classes from the same school to the Marais at the same time, in which case we'll provide one guide per class.
We have already managed up to 6 classes at the same time, with 6 guides.
How much does a school visit cost?
The price depends on the number of pupils and their age, and our rates are degressive according to the number of pupils.

Who will be your guide?
This school tour of the Marais will be led by Claire, Dorothée, Chloé, Gabrielle, François, Gonzague and/or Stanislas, guides who regularly give educational tours of the Marais.All seven of them know the Marais district very well, as well as the writers who have lived there, the painters, the film-makers and the historical events that have marked the Marais.
They also have excellent contacts with children and teenagers, and regularly work with school groups from all over France and even Europe.
